The Flower Studio Participates in Event that Captures Award of Excellence

On October 30, 2005 ISES (International Society of Event Specialists) held the Texas Star Awards at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dallas. Coby Neal of The Flower Studio and M. Hope Lawrence of Michelle Hope Weddings won “Best Wedding 2005”. The annual Texas Star Awards are administered by the Dallas Chapter of ISES and are open to event producers throughout Texas. Coby and Hope brought their teams together to create a masterpiece in the eyes of event professionals.

The wedding that took the prize was done at a couple’s home in the hills of Austin. The Flower Studio created a wedding scenario that was magical and majestic.   The client was highly influenced by Asian design and requested that the theme be carried out throughout their home to match their personal style, interior décor, and architecture of the home. From rain falls of white dendrobium orchids suspended above the buffet table to an alter created out of a tower of exotic foliages, casa blanca lilies, butterfly orchids and vines, the atmosphere was enchanting.

Guests were greeted by a small mote around the front entry with floating candles and rows of submerged gloriosa lilies. The interior of the home displayed suspended arrangements of 10- 15 foot water falls of cascading flowers, arrangements that complimented the color and style of their artworks, and cocktail table arrangements that looked good enough to eat.

Outside, Coby Neal worked with Star of Texas Events who built a checker board, plexiglass dance floor over the couples pool and the seating was arranged on top of it during the exchanging of the couples vows. The couple said their vows in front of the spectacular floral tower outside at dusk among their friends and loved ones. The bridal bouquet consisted of white calla lilies and stephanotis. Hen and chicks were picked from the landscape around their home and added to the design for a distinctive touch.

The late evening found the bride and groom hidden away down a mountainside path to an area decorated just for the two of them. Rows of candles lit the path for them, creating an intimate time and place for the couple to reflect on the moment.

There cake cutting and toasting took place further down the path where their guest greeted and welcomed them into the Cliff Side Pavilion.   This rotunda was built on the edge of the cliffs of Lake Austin. As if the scenery from the Cliff House wasn’t enough, The Flower Studio’s décor for this area of the party was even more scrumptious.

A whimsical chocolate and blue wedding cake nestled in a bed of hundreds of casa blanca lilies filled the room with sweetness. The room was enhanced with a delicious candy bar, hundreds of cathedral candles, and a panoramic view of the downtown city lights.

Specialty lighting by Bryan of Ilios Lighting certainly provided the perfect glow for the evening. He brought in lighting for certain areas to ad to the drama. The dance floor was illuminated from underneath with a rainbow of soft color, the landscape was accentuated with gels which provided lighting along the pathway, the Cliff House was saturated with a warm luminescence and his professional touch was evident throughout the estate.

Coby Neal and his staff worked closely with several Austin professionals to bring in all the elements of a successful event. Needless to say, the couple was very happy and it was a wedding that will be remembered for years to come.
